2nd Look with PushingUpRoses: Toonstruck

Written by PushingUpRoses on January 11th, 2013

Is Toonstruck a game that deserves a 2nd Look?   Find out whether Toonstrucks should, or should not be played.  Where can you find Toonstruck if you feel like giving it a whirl?  It’s currently for sale on amazon.  Here’s a link.

Roses! Holy shit, you look… really good. Not to say you looked bad before, but you look so different from some of your other reviews. And to match, this review is awesome and some of your best work, too. Way to come back to gaming reviews. The Morrissey music actually made me laugh out loud.

Congradulations on leaving TGWTG, it must have been a hard decision but I saw your reasoning behind it and it was sound. Also congradulatrions on losing weight. It’s actually impressive what you managed..

Excellent debut with quite some promise for future episodes. I do enjoy the “look and feel” of your show, and it is both entertaining and informative. Maybe a phrasing here and there could’ve been tightened up a little bit, but all in all, it is a great start! (And on the side, that goth look really is ridiculously attractive. Not that you’re not usually so, but it’s a bit of an extra oompf.)

Thanks; I haven’t done anything, artificial wise, to change my look. I’m simply a lot healthier. I’m glad it’s noticeable.

Nice review but I could use some more information about where to get and how to play this game, is it available in gog/steam/abandonia, does it run on Dosbox or Scummvm or is it selflaunching? Please add this info for future videos.

I love this new series and this first episode! It’s such a great premise and you seem to be loving it as well, which is the most important thing.

This is great, I really like your new show! Waited so long for a new Video from you and it was worth the wait. I think I even remember playing Toonstruck.. Well, at least I remember some of the “creatures”, so I guess I played it. Man this was long ago..

And like others already said, you look different from some of your other videos, but in a good way! This makes the Videos more fun to watch. Looking forward to see more of the “new” Roses in the future. Good Luck!

Professor Cabbage brain= Don Bluth? I can’t quite place the voice actor. Finally, I enjoyed the video, but omg Rose! You are amazingly hawt as Goth Rose! Or is it Vampire Roses?

  • RubbaNoze

Waaay too cartoony for me 😉 but nice review nonetheless. And yes, you DO look healthier – cute, even :> – while maintaining your look. I like it.
Only thing left to say: MOAR :3

I’ll think about it; for now, I’ll put the info for Toonstruck below the video, just in case anyone is interested.

Love the concept of “2nd Look” and I’m looking forward to more videos like this, though it’s sad your moving on from TGWTG it does seem like your coming into your own, and i look forward to seeing what else you have in mind, keep it up girl

Since no one else has brought them up, how do you think it compares as a dark ‘toon world’ kind of story compared to Cool World and/or Evil Toons? It looks to me like all three were drawing from this common trope which I don’t know really originated from.

You are looking great, and you need to save the goth for this coming Halloween for sure 😀

  • Jim Leonard

I was not familiar with your previous work, and was about to stop watching when you were gothzapped. I actually started laughing out loud. Nice job :-) and I’ve subscribed to your feed.

(Note: There is no need to gothzap every single video :-) I just liked your creativity)

  • pushinguproses

Thank you very much! Happy to have you as a new viewer. =)

  • NeoScriptor

I kind of want goth Roses around all the time. She’s so HOT! Plus the Morrissey music is absolutely hilarious. “I’m soooooo sorryyyyy”

I’m excited to see how this series progresses. You get more pro every time!

Wonderful review, Roses! If I may point one thing out, tvtropes (in its infinite wisdom) has a term for when an actor makes an allusion to a different role. It’s called, appropriately enough, an actor allusion: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ActorAllusion

Awsome video Roses, realy like the new review idea.

Always liked your work, and I’m glad you gave this one some light. I’ve never even heard of it, but I think I’ll follow your helpful link to Amazon. Also- It was funny to hear the book you threw thud on your floor Before the glass smashing. :)

I was REALLY pleased to see that Toonstruck isn’t too expensive on ebay. I think I need to give this one a shot. I saw the stream up to the twist, but I never saw the conclusion, and I want to find out just how this resolves!

This is a great idea for a series. Well done!

Yes, the game runs in ScummVM: http://scummvm.org/compatibility/1.5.0/toon/ .

Please note that Abandonware is not a legal concept: http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Copyright_FAQ . We do not support warez.

I adored this game when I was a kid. Well done on a great review, I hope some more people will try this forgotten classic as a result. Beware the squirrel resistance.

Just wanted to add to the chorus. This was a great beginning and you certainly have presence.
