PushingUpRoses: You’ve read the book, now see the movie!

Written by PushingUpRoses on August 31st, 2010

I had a wonderful idea for a new entry, but it up and left me this morning before I woke up.  It was a good idea.  I hope it writes.

Because of this lack of newly brilliant ideas, I decided…what can I do to stimulate my readers?  Within reason that is.  Well, why not write an entire blog entry devoted to myself!   I find myself getting a lot of interesting [and creepy] questions about me and my personal life, so I decided to set some time aside to answer some of these questions by posting some inconsequential information about yours truly.  So, here’s a list, since I like them so much:

  • My name is Sarah, not Rose- Not sure why but people seem to get my user name all jumbled.
  • I love, love, LOVE The Monkees.  I am obsessed with all the episodes, all the music, and the guys in the band.
  • I am very fond of having birds as pets.  I think they make the best companions ever.
  • I hate watermelon flavored anything.  Disgusting.
  • I am a HARDCORE adventure gamer.  I love Sierra, LucasArts, and every single adventure game I’ve found on Abandonia or GOG.com.  I am pretty well rounded when it comes to gaming, but my first gaming love is the PC adventure game.  I love them so much.  SO much.
  • I collect Disney animated features.  I have a vast collection ranging from Snow White to Mulan, where I stopped collecting.  Need to borrow a Disney animated feature?  I probably have it.
  • I could probably live on Chile_Relleno Burritos.
  • Before my Dad died, I could barely draw a stick figure.  After he passed on, I found myself able to draw.  Weird.
  • I love going to Taco Bell at 2am for no reason.  ….Sometimes the reason is a cheesy gordita crunch, though.
  • I collect clocks.  They are amazing!
  • I could eat sushi every day, and never tire of it.
  • Yes, the bird tattoos hurt.  I didn’t bawl, but I did feel the sensation of pain.  It’s pretty uncommon that people don’t feel that sensation- whether it hurts or not is up to them, but mine DID hurt.
  • I used to have a a very poor self image of myself, so to build my confidence and mask what I thought I looked like, I would dye my hair whacky colors.
  • I love my computer. My computer will love me unconditiona–…..WTF A VIRUS!?!

And here are some frequently asked questions which I never answer, but decided to answer.

What does your name mean?

It’s an homage to Grim Fandango, a LucasArts adventure game made in the late 90s.

Will you date me?

Probably not.

What is your favorite adventure game, like, ever?

My faaaaaavorite adventure game ever is Kings Quest 3, but my favorite series of adventure games is Space Quest.

What is your favorite side scroller?

Aladdin, specifically for the Sega Genesis.  Aladdin for the SNES sucks.

What did you want to be when you were young?

An eggplant.

Phew!   And there you have it folks, more useless information than you can get your hands on!  I hope you enjoyed these fun little facts.  Maybe now you will have a better idea of who PushingUpRoses is.  Or maybe not.  Either way, I love eggplant.

  • TokuDeka

Love adventure games too. But.. you know text adventures? Infocom, Level 9, magentic Scrolls… I looove Zork series. You should try some, really ;)

  • Lotus Prince

Yeah, Aladdin for the Genesis truly is the superior Aladdin! You have a SWORD!

Also, King's Quest III? Yeesh, that one turned me off the most, just for the beginning. Manannan's demands and time limits are freaking ridiculous. I beat the crap out of II and VI, though.

D= You dun like Aladdin for the SNES? *Bawls* The Genesis one does look fun too though…

  • http://twitter.com/Onppa Onni Jerkku

Thumbs up for Abandonia and Grim Fandango ^_^

  • TokuDeka

one question i forgot… What do you think of the Telltalle adventures?

  • Torn0023

I finally found someone that shares my love for Sushi!

  • Lotus Prince

Suddenly, I have another question. You say that you “used to” have a poor self-image. This means that you don't anymore, which is obviously fantastic. However, you said that you'd dye your hair in order to compensate for your poor self-image. How come you dye it now? Has it become your thing, or do you just plain think it looks good, or something?

Note that I'm not complaining, as I get a kick out of the red, but I'm just curious.

  • pushinguproses

I think it's become a part of my self image, you know? It's just another characteristic of me, that I've become fond of. Not to mention, it looks snazzy.

  • Lotus Prince

It most definitely does look snazzy. :)

    Thanks for the answer!

  • Eggplantmen

Eggplant?! Me too! Especially after being cooked with some sherry. But then I'd be dead. Hmmm…

  • http://twitter.com/CedarMusketeer Bryan Gardner

So, what do you think of TaleTell redoing the Sam and Max games and Monkey Island, and of course SBCG4AP

  • http://thelastwordslinger.blogspot.com/ Jason Willard

    WHY WON'T YOU DATE ME?!

Seriously though, I was always a Myst series/Journeyman Project kinda guy myself. Nothing like puzzle-solving and adventure to really get the imagination bubbling!

My tattoo didn't hurt too much. I knew there was pain, but pain doesn't bother me to an extent. Then again, I got it on a spot that doesn't have as many sensitive nerves as other choice tattoo locations.

    Ah memories…

  • Grescheks

“•I am very fond of having birds as pets. I think they make the best companions ever.”

I totally agree on this one. Do you have any birds now?

  • pushinguproses

Not right now. A few years ago I had a lovely Cockatiel and Parakeet. I would love to find an African Grey parrot someday.

  • Grescheks

If we didn't already have several cockatiels, a lovebird and a budgie, I'd probably also go for an African Grey, but adding a larger bird to the flock would make to much…mess…:P

  • TheSettingSun

When you gonna add some more art is what i wanna know

  • pushinguproses

Though I am an artist, it is not my top priority. When I am in school and working, or doing LP videos (which is always wanted to do in the first place) artwork is lower on the priority list. I also don't draw unless I am venting or coping with something, I don't draw for fun. I use art as therapy, so art will flow when it flows. I can't force myself to draw or paint when I am not feeling it, and lately, I just haven't.

  • TheSettingSun

    I understand

  • http://twitter.com/WitchyErotica Luke

” * I hate watermelon flavored anything. Disgusting.”— i am with you on this 100% and watermelon jolly ranchers are the worst

” * Before my Dad died, I could barely draw a stick figure. After he passed on, I found myself able to draw. Weird.”— Weird. ummm was your dad an artist?

” * I love going to Taco Bell at 2am for no reason. ….Sometimes the reason is a cheesy gordita crunch, though.”— A TBell run like that is what a slow night is made for. Thats the catalyst that can kick start a night of wacky adventures.

” * I collect clocks. They are amazing!”— How extensive is your collection? Any kind of specific clocks?

” * I used to have a a very poor self image of myself, so to build my confidence and mask what I thought I looked like, I would dye my hair whacky colors.”— I did something similar with my hair. It's crazy how it grows on you after a bit. lol

lol this was an interesting list and i enjoying reading it.

If you haven't dropped the Infamous Adventures website before (it's linked as my website for this post – I'm a tester and occasional idea guy for the group), you really should. The group remade KQ3 and are almost done remaking Space Quest II.

I always said the exact same thing about Aladdin! Though I've never beena ble to complete it :( 'cause I suck at it… but even without playing for several years, I still recalled the code when I bought it recently :)

Btw just found out your site minutes ago from TGWTG… and keep up the good work, your drawings are great, and so are your articles and videos! Keep up the good work!

  • Catutie

My neighbor had 5 birds. we had to uhh bird sit one i guess and it attacked my guinea pig. we have moved since then and they sold the birds which was really sad because there birds were awesome. i one day want to get a parrot.

i remember i had all the Disney sing alongs and would sing to all of them. and the best animated movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas. when have you watched that movie and not had “This is Halloween” stuck in your head for the next week…never.

taco bell is nasty…that is all

sushi is nasty…that is all again

the best gum is watermelon Bubblicious, me and a friend sold it out side of a middle school and made a killing so you are wrong, watermelon things are delicious.

adventure games are amazing but not on computers because my computer sucks and there are to many buttons to manage at the same time. Banjo Kazooie for the N64 is one of the best games ever made and Banjo Tooie is even better. My N64 and my Wii are my babys. My DS is like my uhhh gay son that is special but not as loved. although…it does give me Pokemon HeartGold so…..ive lost track of what im talking about…..

The original Super Mario Bros is the best side scroller EVER. although its hard as hell. i know all the short cuts but i only make it to the 5th world and then lose

ive never had eggplant so i have nothing to say about it.

I have an African Grey, Chad, and he's the best! My family has three parrots (a Grey, a caique, and a lorikeet) and a bichon frise. Chad seems hilariously aware of how much more intelligent he is than the others, and taunts our dog sometimes. An African Grey is totally worth it, they make great companions, and I have a weird connection with mine.

By the way, I just recently got into your videos, and I'm loving it!
